Celebration Candles with Mimi

Hi crafty friends, Mimi here with a fun interactive light-up birthday card using Chibitronics LED circuit stickers with the new Celebration Candles stamp set. This hamster is helping light up the birthday candles.

To start my card, I first die cut all the necessary dies and panels.
I die cut the Quilted Cover CC and the scalloped streamer from Hooray Streamer CC. I cut a part of the quilted cover off that followed the curvature of the scalloped screamer to be added later. I punched 3 mini holes for where my Chibitronics LED lights will go. I also die cut a strip from Easy Sentiment for later use on the pull tab. I created my own pull tab mechanism.

Next, I die cut 2 rectangle panels from Mod Heart CC. The first panel, I die cut the string part of balloon die from Party Scene Cover CC to create a slit for a pull tab. I also die cut the small rectangle from Flip Slider CC to create a battery door for the lights (DON’T die cut all the way, just the sides to create a flap). For the second panel, I traced the slit and the battery door.

To create a holder for the battery, I used the small rectangle again and die cut 6 of them. The FBA-Witch circle die was a perfect fit for the battery, so I die cut the circle on all the small rectangles. I glued them all together.

To create the circuit for the lights, see pictures on how I placed the copper foil tape. I also placed some copper foil tape on the bottom tab of the pull tab insert. I used the blinking slide switch technique to make the lights blink on and off. I reinforced some of the connections with conductive tape.
After creating the circuit, I inserted my pull tab through the slit, added a thick foam adhesive (about 1/8 in and its about the same thickness as the battery holder I made) to the back and adhered it to the second panel, making sure not to place any foam over the slit or battery door slot.

Once that was done, I inserted the battery and battery holder into the slot and adhere the large bottom part of the quilted cover over the circuit panel.

I added the balloon hamster, from Celebration Hamsters stamp set, to the pull tab insert.
I punched mini holes to the bottom of the flame on each candle and placed it over the holes on the quilted cover. I placed the cake under the candles.

I colored the scalloped streamer and added the white outlined scalloped die cut over it. I glued it along the curve of the upper part of the quilted cover and placed it behind the hamster.

All stamped images are colored with Copic markers. The stamped images are also from Celebration Cake, Meowy Woofmas (sign), Mini Messages and Just a Note (little arrow).

When you pull the tab on the left, you’ll see the hamster light up each candle! See it in action >>here<<

Thanks for stopping by!
