Spa Day with Mimi
Hi there, Mimi here with another fun project. Mothers’s Day is coming up so I decided to make a Mother’s Day card using the new Spa Day stamp set. I created a 3D display a scene card for a spa day with mom.
To create the 3D card, I used the Display-A-Card Creative Cuts. I die cut 2 panel cards and 2 border dies (I didn’t want a hilly edge so I just straight cut across that section) from white cardstock. Then I lightly ink blended with Lost Shadow Distress Oxide ink. I also cut a large rectangle from the B2B - Rectangle Creative Cuts to use for my back panel.
To create the background panel, I used the new Diamond Stripes Creative Cuts to create a chevron pattern wall. I ink blended the stripes with Shaded Lilac, Speckled Egg and Shabby Shutters Distress Oxide ink, alternating with a white stripe. I also cut a piece of 1/8” strip to place under the chevron design, that I lightly ink blended with Lost Shadow Distress ink.
For the front panel, I wanted to create a spa storefront. I used the new Emerald Package Creative Cuts for the window frame and the door frame/handle. I die cut them with 2 shades of blue colored cardstock. The Emerald frame is a bit bigger than the Display-a-Card panel so I trimmed off a little from the inside of the Display-a-Card panel. For the door awning, I used the tag top from the Large Tag Window Creative Cuts. I stamped (with Kitsch Flamingo Distress Oxide ink) and die cut the letters S P A from the Layla Letters set. I glued the word SPA on the awning.
I, then, adhered a piece of acetate behind the frame and stamped the sentiments Make Time for Self Care and It’s Me & You Time from the Spa Day set with StazOn Jet Black ink.
Next, I created the ‘inside’ of the spa, I stamped, colored and die cut the pedicure and vanity image from the Spa Day set twice. I couldn’t help but to color their faces green like they were having a facial as well. I also used some images from the Feel Better stamp set. I used the potted flower and the bedside table. I masked the books from the table and stamped towels instead. (The towels are actually lollipops from the Zodiac Rooster stamp set). I used the Little Agenda Frame set to create the chalkboard. I heat embossed Happy Mother’s Day, from the Mini Messages set, with white embossing powder.
I assembled the card and finished off the front of the card with a few potted succulents from the Little Succulent Agenda set.
I hope you enjoyed my project and I hope I inspired you to create a wonderful Mother’s Day card! Thanks for stopping by!
