Playing Cards with Mimi
Hi crafty friends, Mimi here, back on Mama Elephant’s blog. April’s new release is full of game theme sets and dies to make your own playing cards and artist trading cards. Today I’m sharing a card with Playing Cards. Mama Elephant friends are all in with a winning hand!
To start, I used the new Artist Trading Card Creative Cuts and die cut five playing cards from 80lbs white cardstock. I made some playing cards with the Playing Cards set to create a winning hand. You can create any hand you want. I went with two pairs, aces and sevens and a single king. I used the MISTI tool to align all my images. Instead of using the traditional red and black color for the playing cards, I went with pastel colors. I used Salvaged Patina and Kitsch Flamingo distress oxide inks. To get a nice soft look to the numbers and suits, I used a blender brush to apply the distress oxide ink onto the stamp and stamped it a few times.
I also stamped each suit (heart, spade, club, diamond), both the small and large images, onto masking paper and trimmed out the inside. I used the masked cut out as my stencil so I can fill the inside, that I ink blended in.
Next, I stamped and die cut the critters with the tiles from Game Night. I only colored the critters in as I didn’t need the tiles portion. I also stamped and die cut 4 stacks of chips from Game Night. I colored them as poker chips and glued them under each critter.
I added the speech bubble from Simple Friends Bubbles and stamped the sentiment “We are all in!” from Celebrating You. For my back panel, I used the Sky Bursters CC that I die cut from colored paper. I, then assembled my card.
Lastly, I added the sentiment from Let’s Game Sayings.
