Mummified & Bewitched with Jenn

Hi crafty friends! Today I'm excited to share a Harry Potter themed card, inspired by the new Mama Elephant sets, Mummified and Bewitched! Sometimes, I don't know where my mind will go when designing a card, and this time, it went to Harry Potter and the boggarts and wardrobe scene from the third book/movie. I wanted to create the part where Parvati is defeating her boggart, a mummy, with the "riddikulus" charm. The images were easy to color, only needed two for this scene!

The wardrobe was the trickiest to create. I backed kraft cardstock with a double sided adhesive sheet and cut out the wardrobe door with the window die from Bella Frame. I trimmed off the bottom row of rectangles to create a smaller door, since the mummy image is small. Then, I cut the door in half and adhered each half onto silver foil cardstock. I drew the wardrobe shape onto another piece of kraft cardstock and after cutting it out, I lightly ink blended the edges with ground espresso Distress Ink. I glued one door down, and for the other door, I attached a folded strip of paper as a hinge.

For the interactive portion, I cut a small slit with a craft knife to create a slider channel. I used the small slider mechanism from Pull Paper Slider that was cut in half to create a really skinny slider mechanism. I threaded it through the slot and then attached the "OooOOOooo" sentiment as a pull tab (created from Mummified and Let's Chat). I glued on the mummy image to the slider mechanism so it would look like it was coming out of the wardrobe. Finally, I propped the door open and adhered it with a few foam squares.

I heat embossed the "You got this!" sentiment (from Way to Go) and added a few extra cardstock layers for dimension. Parvati's "Riddikulus!" sentiment was stamped with Little Signage Agenda letters and cut using Let's Chat. The background was patterned paper from my stash, lightly ink blended on the sides with scorched timber Distress Ink. The ground was stenciled onto dark gray cardstock using Distress Oxide inks (hickory smoke, pumice stone). I glued everything on a cardbase and ta da! A fun encouragement card for a Harry Potter fan!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Happy crafting! ~Jenn
