Me and My Whale with Mimi
Hi friends, it’s Mimi back on the Mama Elephant blog!
Today, I’m sharing a card using a few of the new April releases. I used the Open Sesame - Portrait - Creative Cuts to create a relaxing balcony scene for whale watching.
First, I die cut the Open Sesame Creative Cuts with 80lb white cardstock along with the two framed windows. I adhered the framed window panels and vellum paper to the doors. I die cut a second Open Sesame frame with 110lb cardstock but trimmed off the doors. I adhered the second frame under so it’s stiffer.
Next, I die cut 2 Seaside Vibes Creative Cuts and ink blended with Prize Ribbon distress oxide. I spritzed one with a little bit of water for interest. I removed the wave die cutouts from the spritzed one and replaced it with the solid ink blended one to give the waves a bit of contrast. I trimmed off the end of the waves to give me two the separated pieces.
I made the balcony layer using half of the window frame die from the Open Sesame Creative Cuts and attached it to a strip of white cardstock that I ink bended with Lost Shadow distress oxide ink.
I stamped, colored and die cut all my images. The whale and water drops are from Me And MyWhale, the potted plants are from Little Succulent Agenda and the bunny is from Spa Day (I masked out the bunny on the right).
To assemble the card, I started with my top panel and worked my way back. First, I have the Open Sesame panel and then I adhered the balcony layer behind it. I added foam stripes behind the balcony layer and added the two wave layers. And finally adhered it to the back panel.
Lastly, I placed all my images, added a bit of Stickle Diamond sparkles to the water drops and adhered two small strips to the front doors for handles.
Thanks for stopping by. Until next time, stay crafty!
