Fa La Llama with Mimi
Hi, it’s Mimi back again on the Mama Elephant’s blog! Today I’m here to share a card featuring the new Fa La Llama. I just can’t get enough of these llamas in their cute sweaters! I combined this set with the new 3D Faux Boxes and Pull Paper Slider dies to create a fun interactive card!
To start, I die cut 2 Stitched Flurries Cover from 80lbs white cardstock. I ink blended one with Kitsch Flamingo distress oxide ink. This will be my back panel. The other one, I die cut it again with the Pull Paper Slider frame.
I die cut all the tabs I needed to make the pull paper slider mechanism. I also cut a white strip measuring 5/8”x 3 1/2” to create the pull tab. I set those aside. I die cut all the pieces of the 3D Faux Boxes from kraft color cardstock, ink blended parts of the boxes with Tea Dye distress oxide ink to create some shadows.
I stamped, die cut and colored all my images from Fa La Llama with Copic markers.
As I was assembling the pull paper slider mechanism, I envisioned one of my llamas coming out from one of the faux boxes. So, I decided to place the bigger faux box on its side to create the llama ‘leaping’ out of the box when you pull the tab.
I adhered the leaping llama on the left end of the pull tab. I positioned the big faux box on its side and assembled the pull tab to where the llama would ‘leap out’. I glued down the upper slit part of the box and used thin foam strips on the bottom back edges of the faux box to create a small gap so when you pull the tab, the llama will come out smoothly. I placed foam strips under the pull paper slider frame and attached it to the ink blended Stitched Flurries Cover.
For the smaller faux box, I placed the standing llama with some gifts inside and adhered it to the card. I then added the sitting llama.
I inked the FaLaLa sentiment (from Holly and Leaves set) twice in Festive Berries distress oxide ink. I die cut the sentiments and trimmed off the Fa on one of them.
I felt the card still need a little something, so I added some ‘ribbons’ to the faux boxes. I used the banner dies from the Favor Bag and Venice Envelope die sets and ink blended them with Kitsch Flamingo distress ink.
I also added a heart and speech bubble (from Simple Friends Bubbles) to the leaping llama to finish the FaLaLaLaLa sentiment. The mini LALALA in the speech bubble is from the Round Tag Wishes.
Pull the tab and see the cute llama leaping out of the box with a fun sentiment! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed this adorable llama interactive card!!
