December Duo with Jenn

Hello crafty friends! Today I am sharing a duo of cards featuring December Duo! I created two variations of cards so you can see how to take a card design and make it as simple or as fancy as you like!

For each card, I prepared the backgrounds the same way. I ink blended the sky with Distress Oxide inks (tumbled glass, broken china, peacock feathers, spun sugar for the pink background) and splattered with white acrylic paint. Then I cut out the backgrounds with Into the Night. I cut out two panels with Into the Woods and added some warm gray shadows on the trees with my Copic markers. The snow was cut from pearl white cardstock using Wavy Borders. I used Winter Banner Greetings for the sentiments and colored in the letters with the coordinating Copic markers used to color the images.

To assemble the card, I glued the insert piece from Into the Night behind the trees, then layered the outer part of Into the Night on top of the Into the Woods trees. I hope that made sense, it was basically a sandwich of the "Into the..." creative cuts!

The rainfall, or in this case, snowfall card involved the extra step of adding beads on clear thread to create the cool shaker effect. Life got in the way and I didn't have time to make a video showing the process but if you watch Laura Bassen's video HERE, you can see how I made it. You do NOT need specialty dies to create this! I don't have the dies in her video but you do not need them, which is really nice because then you can customize this technique for whatever card you are making.
Step 1: Cut 2 strips of cardstock. I made mine 10.5 cm long.
Step 2: Draw a line across the strips.
Step 3: Mark 0.5cm intervals.
Step 4: Cut slits at marked intervals up to the line for both cardstock strips.

From here, you can follow the instructions in Laura's video and use foam tape, clear thread, and beads to create the rain/snowfall shaker card!
Thanks for stopping by today! Happy crafting!
