Concertgoers with Mimi
Hi there, it’s Mimi back on the Mama Elephant blog today. I hope you all enjoyed November’s release, such a cut and fun music theme with the boy band/girl group. Today I’m sharing an interactive light up card with the Concertgoers stamp set. Using Chibitronics LED light stickers, I created the concert light sticks light up with glowing rainbow colors!
First, I designed the background of the top panel. I used the Square Sunburst, ink blended with distress oxide inks in Blueprint Sketch and Seedless Preserve until I got the colors I liked. I then misted some water and ink splattered with silver ink. I stamped, colored and die cut the concertgoers image. I layered the Square Sunburst and Concertgoers image onto a large B2B Rectangle frame. I also added a piece of black cardstock to create the stage. After adhering the layers together, I punched holes in all the light stick circles.
Next, I die cut the word ROCK from Concertgoers and numbers from Marquee Numbers with gold glitter cardstock. I layered them with white and black cardstocks. I stamped and die cut the words IN THE NEW YEAR from New Beginnings. I also stamped, colored and die cut the girl from Girl Group.
I die cut a large B2B Rectangle frame from 110lbs white cardstock. I layered the concertgoers panel over and traced the holes where all the light sticks were punched. These are the areas where the light stickers are placed.
I began to plan out my light circuit using the Chibironics Lights LED Circuit stickers. I used their Rainbow Fade LED stickers and placed them on all the traced circles. I used the Rainbow Fade because it gave a cool fading rainbow color. I created 2 different circuits so the light sticks can light up at different times and colors. I connected the circuits with their fabric circuit tape and used their Foam Adhesive pack battery holders. *See circuit image* (attach image)
After making sure all the lights worked and matched up with its corresponding spots on the light sticks, I added a piece of vellum behind the open holes of the top panel to soften the light coming through. I adhered it all together with foam tape. I finished assembling the front of the card with the girl, words and numbers I die cut earlier.
** I did place a piece of acetate between the battery and circuit tape in each battery holder to control the lights. Take out the acetate to activate the lights and insert to stop the lights.**
Adding an interactive lighting element and making the light sticks light up makes the card so much more fun!! Thank for stopping by.
